1. Period of stay renewal permission application form
2. Photos (4 cm long x 3 cm wide)
3. Family register copy(Kosekitohon in Japanese) of the Japanese spouse
4. Tax (or tax exemption) certificate of resident’s tax of the Japanese spouse, tax payment certificate (one with total annual income and taxation status stated)
5. Warranty card (Japanese spouse guarantees foreign spouse)
6. Resident’s card of Japanese spouse (one with all households listed)

8. Residence card presentation

About expiration date

Even if foreigners live in Japan long before marriage and have residence card with a validity period of 5 years, Basically, the expiration date of your first spouse’s visa is one year.
And if there is no problem with the subsequent renewal application, in principle the expiration date will be extended, like ⇒ 1 year ⇒ 3 years ⇒ 5 years.
